Psychology of Success
Series - 1

The group photo seen here was taken on 26th January 2022, when our dynamic, strategic, and highly passionate Medical Director, Dr. Meera Arora welcomed President CRWWO Mrs. Menu Lahoti and GM/CR Mr. Anil Kumar Lahoti, many PHODs, and DRM/BB, Mr. Shalab Goyal, during their visit to our hospital, Dr. BAM Hospital, Byculla, Mumbai. This picture of elegant people is very inspiring and it will remain fresh in my memory for years. It is a group of highly learned, talented and successful people who have made an indelible mark in their chosen fields.

It also gave me food for thought... an idea for my blog. What is the psychology of success? What is the meaning of success? What are the essential ingredients of success? Dr. Praveen Chopra, my blog 'Guru' is currently hand-holding me in writing blogs and literally teaching me the fine nuances of blogging. You need a mentor in every field. Yesterday, he advised me to write regularly. Therefore, thought of writing on a specific theme with some tangible benefits to those who take pains to read it. After all, it should add some value to the readers.

Let's get started. Psychology of Success ... The first step on the road to success is to define what success means to you. Success has a personal definition for each of us. We usually associate it with material wealth and fame. We are constantly bombarded through social media - the images and lifestyles of successful people. But the real meaning of success is different. And the psychology of success has nothing to do with age, gender, ethnicity, or birthright. It does not mean being a celebrity, icon, or tycoon. Then what do we mean by success?

Success means a lifetime of personal fulfillment. Personal fulfillment comes from creating a sense of meaning in your work and life. It also requires taking risks, overcoming challenges, and using your best resource—you—to its fullest potential. Earl Nightingale, an American radio speaker and author in the 1950s remarked that "Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal".

We have heard that success is a journey, not a destination. Success is a process and we should rather engage ourselves in living successfully on a daily basis. It involves introspection. Let us begin to think about what success means to us. There are many key ingredients of success. Three things come to my mind.

Awareness: Being aware of your abilities, interests, strengths, weaknesses, and traits is essential to becoming proactive in your life for success.

Self-discipline: Success doesn’t just happen—it requires effort. You’ll need the self-discipline to put your plans into action. Successful people take charge of their lives. They learn how to make necessary changes and break free of bad habits.

Relationships: Finally, no real success is possible without healthy and positive relationships with others. Usually, no one ever succeeds without the help, ideas, and emotional support of others.

Hope to continue the series on Psychology of Success. Till then, please listen to the famous song of the Hindi film, Shor ... Jeewan Chalne Ka Naam ... I could not get the original video of the song where Manoj Kumar accepts a challenge in the city to cycle non-stop for eight days to raise the money needed for the operation of Deepak, who regains his voice after the surgery.
However, the below one is also well presented in a modern form.
